Dedication of the The United Irish Societies " Irish Plaza" in Corktown
1pm Mass at Most Holy Trinity Church in Corktown immediately followed by formal dedication of the Plaza and a reception thereafter at the Gaelic League.

Being constructed in Corktown, the site has been consecrated and will be known as UIS Irish Plaza. Now 75% completed, drive by to see the beautiful work completed thus far at 6th Street and Michigan Ave. There is still time to be one of the first to have your name, or the name of a loved one, included in the initial installed set of paving stones. It would make a great gift idea. You can even receive a letter from the UIS Plaza committee announcing the gift!

Now is your chance to make your mark and become part of history. The United Irish Societies is sponsoring the creation of a memorial to the Irish in Detroit. A "gathering place," under the leadership and vision of Ed Neubacher and Mike McGunn, and graphic assistance by Margaret O'Neill, will be constructed in Corktown at 6th Street and Michigan Avenue. The site has been consecrated and will be known as UIS Irish Plaza. It will become a memorial for past and present members of the Irish community, and the starting point for the St. Patrick's Parade for present and future generations to come.

You can become part of this memorial by purchasing a personalized paver, seat, flag pole, step or any of the other items that will be included in this historical tribute to the Irish.
